Somalia is located on the Horn of Africa, a strategic position in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The highest point in Somalia is Shimbiris (2,416 m) in the north of the country. Somalia was known to the Egyptians as the Land of Punt. Punt wasfamous for frankincense and myrrh.
